Set high on a Cave Creek mountainside, the Sundance residence presents a series of precisely composed volumes that follow the natural grade, establishing a quiet, contour-driven rhythm rooted in modern architectural design. Native fieldstone rises from the slope as both structure and vertical massing, while board-formed concrete sets a disciplined base for slender steel columns that echo the surrounding saguaros. A linear spine organizes the interior, opening each space to panoramic desert views and reinforcing the home’s long, horizontal flow. Deep overhangs and vertical fins regulate sun and heat, shaping layered terraces that function as purposeful outdoor rooms. At the core, an indoor–outdoor bar anchors the great room as large openings pocket cleanly into stone, forming a seamless living environment. The terraces conclude with a secluded firepit carved into the mountainside, offering a calm counterpoint to the residence’s expansive perspective.
